Malaysia

 

MPA expansion into Asia continued in 2006 when Michael A. Potter was extending an invitation to speak at the 35th International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO) conference in Kuala Lumpur as one of their High Profile Speakers on harmonising education and training needs within the workplace.

 

The presentation highlighted the awareness of the changing needs of organisational development and the emerging difficulties encountered by HR professional looking to build long-term strategies.

 

Indonesia

 

MPA entered Indonesia in August 2007 when Michael A. Potter spoke at the 34th Asian Regional Training and Development Organization (ARTDO) International Conference and Exhibition in Bali on Change management and merits of Western frameworks and skills matrixes in Eastern capitalists’ structures.

 

Many local contacts were acquired for MPA during the visit with the aim to establish a network of knowledge sharing capabilities across the geographical divide. MPA hopes to hold coaching sessions within the next year Indonesia and establish current business relationships further.

 

 

ASIA

Michael A Potter International expansion into the Asian market began in the South East Asia region where it remains the core of operations for MPA in Asia. In 2008, MPA moved north establishing relationships in China and has aspiration of forming associations across the continent within the next five years.

 

Michael A Potter International's primary focus has been conducting thorough market research in South East Asia; focusing on Vietnam in 2005 and the Philippines in 2006 using the UKTI's Export Market Research Scheme (EMRS). This scheme enabled MPA to gain a more complete understanding of the operations and tenants of the markets within South East Asia allowing us to make informed decisions regarding entry strategies into this booming market.

 

 

 

 

India

 

Michael recently presented at the World HRD Congress

in Mumbai in February 2009, speaking on Global Talent

Management: Recruitment, retention and devlopment

strategies for the future. Michael was awarded at the

conference with an HR Leadership Award for his Global

Vietnam

 

Michael A Potter International entered the Vietnamese market in March 2003 as a result of Trade Missions through the UKTI.

 

Michael A Potter International has created strong business relationships with companies in Vietnam including organisations such as Mai Linh, Apollo Training and Tan Duc (TD & T). Currently, Michael A Potter International has been in discussion with a variety of organisations including ILA Vietnam, BP Vietnam and Citigroup to host a selection of management training courses.

 

A number of workshops and training days have been run by Michael A Potter International in Vietnam over the past three years. These include: 'Train the Trainer', Management and Logistics Skills',' Mentoring, Coaching and Succession Planning' and 'Effective Time Management Skills'. The courses have all been very well received with audience feedback stating its usefulness for their developing market with a high demand for first-class HR Training and Consultancy services

 

As a result of a successful EMRS, Michael A Potter International  recruited a Country Business Development Head in the form of Quynh Lai. Quynh is a Vietnamese national with a MBA from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom, who has international experience in Canada and Vietnam. Quynh provides assistance in developing opportunities for MPA in Vietnam and provides an essential link with clients and partners.

 

Singapore

 

Michael A Potter International  entered Singapore in May 2004 as a result of Trade Missions through the UKTI similar to our Vietnam entry strategy. These were also successful in making many new contacts to help toward entry into the market.

 

Michael A Potter International  is closely linked with Singapore based Consultancy firm Beacon Consulting. The close links between the two organisations allows for quick access to skills and facilities within the region.

At the end of 2006 Michael A Potter received an invitation from the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) to present at their annual conference held in Singapore during May 2007. This event attracted some of the largest organisations from the region and it provided valuable networking opportunities.

 

Recently, Michael A Potter International  has been in preliminary discussion with a local, growing organisation that also specializes in human capital review and performance management about establishing a business relationship which complements our similar strategic frameworks. Both parties hope to Develop and provide programmes on Human Capital to train the HR community in the region and create an academy to focus on Executive MBA programmes with specialization in linking Human Competitiveness to Business.


 

The Philippines

 

The demand for HR Training and Consultancy services in the Philippines is growing at a fast rate; MPA entered the Philippines in order to meet this demand in early 2004.

Since that time MPA's presence in the market has continued to grow from strength to strength. We have worked with multinational organisations such as Philippine Airlines, European Chamber of Commerce and the British Council Philippines offering courses and workshops on topics such as Mentoring, Succession Planning, Train the Trainer and Coaching. MPA has also co-operated with a large number of Philippine organisations including the Ateneo Graduate School of Business - Center for Continuing Education, John Clements, SGV & Co, PBSP and Wyeth Philippines. An EMRS carried out in September 2006 identified a number of opportunities for MPA to continue to grow within the Philippines.

In addition to the work MPA have carried out in the Philippines, Michael A Potter has also presented at a number of high profile conferences for a variety of organisations. In August of 2006 he was featured as the keynote speaker at the Professional Management Association of the Philippines Cebu (PMAP Cebu). This event featured Michael on national TV and a large number of contacts being established. Other events include the PSTD annual conference 2006 and the PMAP Manila conference in September 2006.

 

Michael A Potter and MPA hope to return to the Philippines again in 2008 to continue the work already in foundations there.
