HR Challenges and Opportunities Ahead addresses difficulties encountered by today's HR Professionals and those involved in Training and Development. In the ever-changing world of HR, practioners are continually facing new challenges and opportunities. With the growing need for flexibility, adaptability and contextual thinking, it is vital for HR professionals to focus on motivating and developing supervisory staff.

 

Michael A. Potter, one of the UK's leading training and management consultants, has  presented the workshop globally at the 2006 IFTDO World Conference in Kuala Lumpur, and is set to build upon the success of the workshop with more 2008 dates planned in South East Asia.

The workshop addresses the critical talent management issues encountered by global organisations today as a result of the ever-changing world of business. With the growing need for adaptation to changing market demands and the growing shortage of talented personnel, it is vital for organisations to focus on recruiting, retaining and developing talented personnel, in order to reamin one step ahead in the business world.

 

This is the latest workshop to be presented by Michael A. Potter, and 2008 dates have already been planned in Africa and South East Asia.

 

CONTENT - Presentation

The results of a recent global talent management survey is presented at the workshop, which highlights the critical talent management issues currently facing organisations across the globe. This is followed by a presentation of key recruitment, retention and development strategies required in the future in order to tackle to talent issues, and MPA's talent management model.

Bulgaria

Every year Michael A Potter, Managing Director of MPA, attends the Northern European Exchange Meeting (NEEM).

After attending this conference he also attended the East European HRM Exchange Meeting (EEEM) as a guest speaker in Berlin. He gave a presentation on the barriers and benefits of EU Enlargement, which was a great success.

Following on from the success of the Presentation at the Eastern European Exchange Meeting (EEEM), Michael A Potter was invited to be a guest speaker at the Bulgarian Human Resource and Management Development Association. This was a great success and during his visit he made several contacts and new clients.


 

Tan Duct (TD&T) Professional School Vietnam

MPA's first event in South East Asia was a substantial contract with education and training school TD&T to provide a number of courses including: Train the Trainer, Time Management, providing a Quality Services and Change management. The partnership gave MPA the potential for business with many educational facilities in the city and provided a platform for promoting MPA within Vietnam. As a result of this successful partnership MPA and Michael A Potter became well known in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

 

British Council Philippines

MPA's provision of training workshops in the Philippines began in 2006 providing a course in Personal Planning and Time Management for employees of the British Council Philippines. Delegates were given tools to improve their productivity and effectively manage their time both at work and at home. A large participation meant that interaction was varied and many important issues were raised and explored. The event was beneficial to MPA in developing contacts to facilitate our development within Manila and the rest of the Philippines.

 

Training Works Effective Mentoring Skills Workshop

June 2006 saw Michael A Potter return to the Philippines to facilitate a workshop in conjunction with Training Works, the training arm of the European Chamber of Commerce Philippines. The workshop entitled 'Effective Mentoring Skills' provided a focus for those entrusted with the role of mentor, building confidence, highlighting the learning potential of trainees and professional institution requirements. A highly successful event building on MPA's work earlier in the year, the workshop further promoted MPA in the Philippines opening up new opportunities and avenues for development.

 

IFTDO 35th World Conference

The 35th International Federation of Training and Development Oranisations (IFTDO) World Conference was held in August of 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Through UKTI Michael A Potter was featured as a Keynote speaker, delivering his 'World Series' presentation 'The Winning Organisation: HR Challenges and Opportunities Ahead'. The presentation was an astounding success with over 150 delegates attending leaving standing room only in the auditorium. The contacts made at this event led to many new contracts for MPA Consulting, opening up new markets in countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.

 

Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD)

In conjunction with the PSTD Michael A Potter ran a half-day course on Effective Mentoring Skills. Over 100 delegates attended a highly successful workshop tackling a number of issues concerning mentoring in the workplace. The workshop comprised presentations from Michael A Potter followed by group exercises to generate participation from all the delegates.

 

Personnel Management Association of the Philippines 6th Regional Convention

Michael A Potter was invited to the 6th Regional Convention of PMAP held in Cebu, an Island South of Manila. Michael featured as the Keynote Speaker presenting his award winning 'World Series' paper 'The Winning Organisation: HR Challenges and Opportunities Ahead'. The event featured leading HR experts from both Philippine and Global organisations such as Microsoft, Isuzu and HSBC. Michael's Presentation was featured on Philippine national television reaching over 5 million viewers.

 

Ateneo Graduate School of Business - Center for Continuing Education

Development of Michael A Potter's award winning 'World Series' paper 'The Winning Organisation: HR Challenges and Opportunities Ahead' led to the a workshop in December 2006 in Manila. Hosted by the Ateneo Graduate School of Business - Centre for Continuing Education and presented by Michael A Potter, the event featured a presentation followed by a series of workshops addressing emerging issues faced by HR professionals. Each workshop featured a discussion with a panel of HR Experts from large Philippine organisations. Attended by nearly 100 delegates, the event ran extremely well with positive feedback.

 

American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam HR Club

Michael A Potter was invited by the AmCham HR Committe in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam to present his World Series paper at a meeting of the committe. Presenting his paper 'The Winning Organisation: HR Challenges and Opportunities Ahead' Michael commented "The event was a great success with a warm welcome for me from the organisers". The presentation was well received by members who found the content "fruitful" and "meaningful".
